Canadian Scholars’ Press Inc. (CSPI) publishes approximately twenty books a
year. Most of our titles are used as texts in post-secondary courses, though we
also publish a limited number of trade tiles a year under our Women’s Press and
Kellom Books imprints (see below for more information). We regularly produce
edited collections and original texts on a wide variety of academic subjects,
with specialization in the disciplines of Sociology, Criminology, Health Studies,
Gender Studies, Education, History, French Studies, and Social Work.

manuscript for consideration, please familiarize yourself with our publishing
program.
Academic Book Proposals
If you teach at the post-secondary level, we invite your proposal for a text
or reader. Book proposals should include the following:
·your name, institutional affiliation, and complete contact information
·brief personal biography
·brief outline of the project, including working title, approach, and
reasons why the work is important
·please indicate if the book is a reader, contributed volume, conference
publication, or original text
·estimated length of the manuscript
·detailed table of contents
·draft introduction
·one or two sample chapters
·names, addresses and e-mail addresses of three (or more) scholars who
could assess the work objectively
·the size and characteristics of the target audience for the book,
including any courses that you teach for which the book would be relevant
·information about whether a subvention or grant in aid of publication is
available
·timetable for your completion of the work
Trade Book Proposals
Under our Women’s Press, Kellom Books, and Sumach Press
imprints, CSPI publishes a select number of trade titles a year
(though Women’s Press also publishes feminist academic works). We publish
creative non-fiction, short stories, poetry, fiction, and biography.
Important:
Only hardcopy submissions sent by mail will be accepted.We do not accept submissions by e-mail or fax.Telephone inquiries about
manuscripts will not be returned.
If you are interested in submitting a manuscript for our consideration,
please first familiarize yourself with our publishing program.
Manuscript submissions should be provided in hard copy, typed and
double-spaced, and include complete contact information, an overview of the
work, and a brief assessment of competing/similar titles.
If you wish your work to be returned, a self-addressed, stamped envelope
(SASE) with sufficient Canadian postage (or international postal reply coupons,
for submissions from outside Canada)
should be included. Submissions sent from outside of Canada
that use non-Canadian stamps on the SASE will not be returned.
We do not accept manuscripts which are in the process of multiple
submissions.
Please
allow up to four months for a response to your submission.
Please do not submit original artwork.
